When I received the package, it felt heavy - it felt like there was a very sturdy hard drive enclosure within the box that was made of a lot of very sturdy metal. The box itself was well wrapped, with clean printed labels and text. Upon opening the box, the contents within were well-wrapped in plastic bags and cardboard supports.
Installing the drives themselves were a piece of cake. The screws for the enclosure are thick and sturdy. The two 3.5" hard drives that I owned fit in the enclosure perfectly. Once I configured the DIP switches** (more on that later), the enclosure was up and running. I initially tested it with the USB 2.0 connection, and it recognized correctly as a single mirrored volume. I then moved it to an eSATA connection (using the eSATA expansion panel provided in the package). The unit performs flawlessly, with transfer rates consistant with the native speed of the hard drives (50Mbps - 60Mbps read rates).

** - The documentation correctly shows the DIP switch configurations for how to configure for different RAID levels. However, it does NOT tell you that the proper way to set a new RAID level configuration is to 1) configure the DIP switches (without drives installed) 2) Power the unit up. 3) Hold down the Reset button for several seconds. 4) Release the Reset button. 5) Power the unit down. 6) Install the drives.
